Community Drug Education Committee (CDEC)

The "Community Drug Education Committee" was established for the expressed purpose of developing leadership skills as well as an awareness of social responsibilities to encourage students to participate in public affairs. Our primary goal is to promote community outreach programs and educate children and adults about drug safety, poison prevention, and health related issues such as diabetes, nutrition, smoking cessation, and many more.

As a small organization that is constantly growing and expanding our horizons, we are welcome to new members and new ideas. We provide many opportunities for our new members to get involved, be it through development of a new public presentation or reaching out to new sites or guest lecturers. If you have an idea that you would like to pursue relating to educating the public or the pharmacy profession, please bring it to our next GBM!

CDEC offers:

  • A way to get to know your classmates, have fun, and network with upperclassmen and faculty and guest lecturers

  • Opportunities to develop your presentation skills and leadership abilities

  • First-hand professional experience serving the public, counseling people, and answering questions

  • Ability to apply your pharmacy knowledge as well as expand it by learning about things you haven’t been exposed to yet

  • A chance to promote your profession and make a difference in people’s lives
